Columbia Sportswear’s Chicago Store Partners with ChiGivesBack

ChiGivesBack, Inc. and the Columbia Sportswear Chicago store are partnering to keep Chicagoans warm this winter.  During the 2019 polar vortex that took the Chicagoland region by storm, ChiGivesBack activated an emergency response program to provide assistance to Chicago’s residents who are suffering from homelessness.  That same storm flooded the retailer’s store due to a water line freeze causing some items to be unsellable but still functional.

The Columbia store contacted ChiGivesBack and a local connection was made.  This year, ChiGivesBack will be able to distribute nearly 800 units of outerwear and apparel to help protect and provide warmth to those who are in need.

"We are thrilled to be working with ChiGivesBack,” said Brad Rexroat, Head of Columbia’s Michigan Avenue location. “We learned of their activities last winter and knew that we wanted to support them. Our team is excited to give back to Chicago.”

"Chicago winters can be brutal, and we are honored to receive a donation from Columbia to help provide high quality coats to those who might not otherwise be able to afford them during the upcoming winter season," said John Boddie, co-founder and Board Member of ChiGivesBack, Inc.

ChiGivesBack and the Columbia store employees are set to distribute the first round of coats at an upcoming Friendsgiving dinner on Thursday, November 21, 2019 – an event that will provide a Thanksgiving meal to 300 Englewood community members.
