ChiGivesBack Principal's Day Winner!

Congratulations to Isaac Castelaz, Principal at National Teachers Academy, who was selected by the ChiGivesBack team as our Principal’s Day Winner in recognition of School Principal’s Day.

ChiGivesBack opened up nominations to the public and we were impressed by the note that we received from Rakel Williams regarding Principal Castelaz’s leadership. Ms. Williams wrote that “Mr. Castelaz is a mentor for his students who do not have a father figure at home and he works to solve conflict resolutions internally — attempting to keep students in school.”

Principal Castelaz has also been incredibly supportive to families and students protesting the closing of Chicago Public Schools and on one occasion he “organized events and held fundraisers” to support students who were protesting the closing of a high ranking predominately African American elementary school.

A recent article published in the Chicago Suntimes highlighted that 45% of Chicago’s youth are out of school and jobless. Now more than ever we need more educational leaders like Principal Castelaz, he is to be commended for his leadership.

The Board of Directors and Advisory Board Members of ChiGivesBack recognizes Principal Isaac Castalez for his incredible commitment to his students, parents and faculty.
