2020 #Teach2Give COVID-19 Edition
#Teach2Give Honors
On Saturday, September 12, 2020, ChiGivesBack, Inc. hosted its 3rd annual #Teach2Give Honors. Through this initiative, ChiGivesBack, Inc. provided in-kind and financial relief to Chicago Public School teachers who are often burdened with out-of-pocket expenses. Unfortunately, due to the coranavirus global pandemic, we had to significantly reduce the size of our class selection and celebration efforts. The 2020 #Teach2Give Class consisted of 25 CPS teachers. Norman’s Bistro provided the space to host our Classroom Kit Distribution Event. Each honoree received approximately $200 worth of classroom supplies totaling over $5,500 in reduced financial burden.
The majority of our 2020 Class were African American teachers who taught at schools where 70% or more of the population were low-income (CPS collected income status of students and their families. Low income is defined as eligible to receive free or reduced-price lunch). Over 21 Chicago Public Schools were impacted through this initiative.
#Teach2Give also garners major support from corporate sponsors, organizational donors, and community partners. The 2020 #Teach2Give Honors was made possible by our partners and we extend our deepest gratitude for their contribution.
