ChiGivesBack Helped Chicagoans to Safely Serve the South Side at #MLKDay of Service

ChiGiveBack was joined by 150+ volunteers for a MLK Day of Service at Tanner Elementary School. Each active volunteer took a COVID-19 rapid test that yielded a negative result before staring their shift. Together, we painted seven murals at Tanner, organized storage closets, remodeled the teachers lounge, donated 2,000 books and delivered the city’s love to Tanner.

We could not have done it without our friends at Walmart, Pepsi, the Chicago Community Trust, Scherwin Williams, Milhouse Charities, Mariano’s, Lashley Construction Group and Centers for Disease Testing. Thank you all so much, we’ve left our mark on our fourth CPS school. Also, a huge thank you to the Obama Foundation for assisting us with volunteer recruitment and support through their network.

Tanner Elementary does not currently have a library for their students and ChiGivesBack is working with community leaders to figure out how to build a library for Tanner students, to learn more about that please email us at contact@chigivesback.com.
