Labor of Love Provides 300+ Free Haircuts and School Supplies
ChiGivesBack hosts 3rd Annual Labor of Love in partnership with Next Showcase USA and local barber shops. Over twenty barbers gathered on Sunday, August 21, 2022 to provide 300+ free haircuts, book bags and school supplies to returning Chicago Public School students. This was a family fun event that featured hot dogs donated by Vienna Beef and refreshments. The following barbershops and businesses opened their businesses to local residents to come in for a haircut and a day of fun:
Labor of Love arrives on the heels of the Illinois legislator passing the CROWN Act which provides protections for Illinoisans discriminated against due to hairstyles. Back to school hair cuts are important to young boys as they return to school and can be expensive for parents. ChiGivesBack is working to help parents and guardians lessen their financial burdens as they prepare their young scholars to return to the classroom.
